IT'S ALL ABOUT THE DASH

We only get one chance at life, our choices we take or leave
Some times ignoring the voice of reason, by doing as we please
Living large, living small, while maintaining or security
Learning that old age is too high a price, to pay for maturity

Daddy was a very nice man, those words were spoken by many
He never acquired much money, but still gave away plenty
It's not about the money you make, it's never about the cash
It's about the way you live and love, and how you spend your dash

You can talk about his start and ending dates, some eyes might feel with tears
The most important factor for all of us, is the dash between those years
Who knows how long any dash will last, it may be for a little while
You should treat everyone with respect more often, be sure to wear a smile

Some people are sure to turn their backs, leaving others grieving in pain
Some people only help at convenient times, they are certain to reap a gain
Some people seem to hate so deeply, with a fuse that blows in a flash
Some people find out much too late, that it's about the way you live your dash

Making it to the same level I hope one day we all will arrive
If everyone loved the way daddy did, hatred would never survive
Let me help your thinking by sharing with you a little light
Treat everyday as if it's your last, one day you will surely be right

That day will come for all of us, that's known as judgment day
When we stand before Almighty God, what do you think you will say
To the question that needs an answer about your life as you rehash
How will you respond to Jesus, telling Him how you lived your dash

No one knows how much time is left, for any life to be rearranged
Daddy surely thought long and hard, yes he really made a change
He knew that we loved him with pleasant memories that can be rehashed
He also knew that we knew, It's all about the dash
